Our return fixture against BGS once again yielded maximum reward, taking the
full point on all 4 boards. Graham with black on Board 1 won a piece early to
the detriment of his development, but managed to get his pieces out and convert
his advantage into the win. In mild time pressure with slight positional
advantage I played a rather dubious Rook sacrifice on the h-file, but
fortunately my opponent didn't defend well. Andrew played an unintentional Queen
sacrifice, leaving him slightly behind, but he quickly took advantage of blunder
by his opponent. Dan sealed his win quickly to give us the maximum points (DE).

The D team scored a narrow victory over Hanham with the result only being
decided on the last game. My game reached a static endgame with a static pawn
structure and no real chances for either player after only an hour - a draw was
agreed. Kornel found his position overwhelmed by the opponents pieces not long
after and resigned, leaving us 1/2 point down. Robert played a nice Knight
sacrifice to win the exchange and with a winning endgame took the win on time.
Now 1/2 point up, all three results were possible and Angela kept us waiting
right till the end. Her opponent defended well against a very strong attack
despite the white king being chased all over the board, but came out badly on
time. With little more than a minute left on his clock, white tried to claim a quickplay draw, but, with plenty of normal play left, effectively resigned to
give Angela the full point and the team win. (DE)
