HORFIELD  &  REDLAND  CHESS  CLUB  AGM -  7TH  SEPT  2004

The meeting was held at No 1 Redland Park , and commenced at 7.30 pm with John Richards in the chair and 14 other members in attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mike Gladstone.

The minutes of last year’s AGM were considered and accepted as a true record . As a matter arising , the secretary reported that he had circulated a draft club constitution for consideration later in the meeting.

The SECRETARY reported on another generally successful season for the club’s teams. Apart from a spectacular loss to Hanham in the first round of the League K.O., all teams acquitted themselves well. The outstanding features  were the A team’s  second place in division 1 ( well clear of the rest), and the C team’s revival and promotion to division two under Alex Dunn’s  captaincy.

The TREASURER informed the meeting that despite some increases in costs : the BCF game fee and our insurance , savings from closing the club on non-match nights enabled him to recommend that subscriptions remain unchanged. This was unopposed. He will ask Martin Dear to audit the accounts ( as last year). We will continue to close the club on nights when there is no home match.

In consideration of his exceptional service to the club JIM DRAISEY was acclaimed an honorary life member.

The proposed club constitution was considered. Agreed improvements are incorporated in the attached copy.
